  • 2 Sausages (sliced into bite-sized pieces)
  • 100g Bacon (chopped)
  • 1 Potato (diced small)
  • 1/2 Onion (diced small)
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1.5 bowls Cooked Rice

Special Omelet Rice Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp Tonkatsu Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 100ml Water
  • Salt (to taste, a pinch)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all the ingredients for the omelet rice. Slice the sausages and bacon into bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm). Peel and finely dice the potato and onion. (For 2 servings: 2 sausages, 100g bacon, 1 potato, 1/2 onion).

Whisk the 5 eggs until smooth and cook them into thin omelet sheets. Lightly grease a pan and cook over low heat slowly to prevent burning and create beautiful omelet sheets. Let the cooked sheets cool slightly.

Heat a pan with a generous amount of olive oil. Start by sautéing the diced potatoes until they begin to soften. Add the onions and cook until they become translucent. Finally, add the sliced sausages and bacon and stir-fry until golden brown. Sautéing in this order (potatoes-onions-sausages/bacon) helps all ingredients cook evenly without burning.

Now, let’s make the special sauce that will define the flavor of your omelet rice. In a small pot or pan, combine 2 Tbsp Tonkatsu sauce, 1 Tbsp ketchup, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 100ml water. Stir well over low heat and bring to a simmer. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly to create a delicious sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch of salt if needed.

Add the cooked rice to the pan with the sautéed ingredients. Pour in about 2-3 tablespoons of the prepared special sauce and mix well while stir-frying. Ensure the rice grains are fluffy and well-coated. Spoon the stir-fried rice onto the prepared omelet sheet and shape it.

Carefully lift the omelet sheet with the rice and gently invert it onto a large plate to form the classic omelet rice shape. Let the omelet sheet naturally cover the rice, creating a beautiful presentation. Handle gently to avoid breaking the rice mound.
