Main Ingredients

  • 1 pink sausage (amount can be adjusted to your preference)
  • 1 cup tempura flour (using a standard paper cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder (optional, adds flavor)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the pink sausage. Slice it into rounds of about 0.7-1 cm thickness. If they are too thin, they might break apart easily, and if too thick, they’ll take a long time to cook, so the right thickness is important. Lightly pat the sliced sausage with paper towels to remove excess moisture; this will help make the pancake crispier.

Step 1

Step 2

A tip to make your pink sausage pancake even more delicious! While using only tempura flour will make it sufficiently crispy, adding a touch of curry powder can enhance the flavor, which might otherwise be a bit plain. I added about 1/2 teaspoon, but you can add more if you enjoy the curry aroma.

Step 2

Step 3

Because curry powder is added, you can enjoy it without extra seasoning. If you’re not using curry powder or prefer more seasoning, you can add a tiny pinch of salt or pepper. Add water to the tempura flour and mix to create a thin batter. If it’s too thick, it won’t coat the sausage well, and if it’s too thin, it might peel off during cooking. Aim for a slightly runny consistency.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Once the oil is moderately hot, dip the pink sausage slices into the tempura batter and place them in the pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan; leave a little space between each piece so they cook evenly and are easier to separate later.

Step 4

Step 5

Once one side is golden brown, gently flip the sausage slices with a spatula and cook the other side until equally golden. It’s important to flip them occasionally and cook slowly over low to medium-low heat to ensure the sausage is cooked through without burning. You can use tongs to turn them and brown the sides for a prettier finish. Your delicious pink sausage pancake is ready!
