Once they’re cooked, you can tear them apart with your hands and enjoy them, or slice them up and dip them in soy sauce for an equally delightful treat. Let’s get started!

First, let’s prepare the batter for our delicious cabbage pancakes. Using an equal mix of sweet rice flour and all-purpose flour will give you a wonderfully crispy and savory pancake. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sweet rice flour and 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour. Add 1/2 cup of water and mix well. For added color and flavor, finely julienne about a small handful of carrots and mix them into the batter. Don’t forget to add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of black pepper for seasoning.

If you find julienning carrots too much work, feel free to omit them! The most important part is ensuring the cabbage leaves are evenly coated with the batter. Take your clean Napa cabbage leaves and dip them into the prepared batter, making sure both sides are well-covered. Then, heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the battered cabbage leaves into the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.
