Mountain of Bulgogi Stew
Create a Delicious Mountain of Bulgogi Stew for the Whole Family to Enjoy on Parent’s Day
This is a ‘Mountain Bulgogi Stew’ where you pile bulgogi high like a mountain and eat it. It’s a visually impressive and flavorful dish perfect for family gatherings.
Main Ingredients- Bean sprouts, 300g (washed and ready)
- Green onion, 1 stalk (chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the bean sprouts under running water and drain them well. Keeping the bean sprouts crisp is key to the dish’s texture.
Step 2
Wash the green onion and then slice it diagonally into about 1cm thick pieces. This will help its flavor infuse nicely into the broth.
Step 3
Gently press the thinly sliced bulgogi beef with paper towels to remove any excess blood. Removing the blood ensures a clean, savory flavor without any gamey taste.
Step 4
In a small bowl, combine Gochujang (1 Tbsp), Gochugaru (2 Tbsp), fish sauce (1.5 Tbsp), soy sauce (1 Tbsp), minced garlic (1 Tbsp), cooking wine (1 Tbsp), and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly to create the seasoning paste.
Step 5
In a wide pot, spread all the prepared bean sprouts evenly at the bottom. Pour the 400ml of beef bone soup base over the bean sprouts. This will help them cook tenderly in the broth.
Step 6
Sprinkle the sliced green onions evenly over the bean sprouts. The aromatic quality of the green onions will blend wonderfully with the sprouts.
Step 7
Carefully layer the prepared beef slices over the bean sprouts and green onions, ensuring they don’t overlap too much. Piling the beef high like a mountain will create the signature ‘Mountain Bulgogi Stew’ look.
Step 8
Spoon the prepared seasoning paste evenly over the beef layers. It’s important to distribute the seasoning so it coats the meat well.
Step 9
Cover the pot and simmer over the lowest heat until both the bean sprouts and beef are fully cooked, about 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the beef; you want the bean sprouts to remain slightly crisp. Enjoy your delicious Mountain Bulgogi Stew!
