  • Cooking : Pan-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • 3 fresh eggs
  • 8 plump Vienna sausages
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
  • A little cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them thoroughly until smooth. Removing the chalaza (the white stringy bits) will result in a softer omelet.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare the star of the dish: the Vienna sausages. Depending on their size, I cut them in half for a more manageable bite-sized piece. If they are too small, it might be difficult to roll them. Cut them to an appropriate size.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the cheddar cheese slices into bite-sized pieces as well. I initially cut them into thirds, but the cheese flavor was a bit too strong. Cutting them into quarters this time provided a much better flavor balance, so adjust according to your child’s preference.

Step 3

Step 4

Lightly oil a heated pan. Pour small portions of the beaten egg mixture into the pan and spread it out thinly and lengthwise as it cooks. Making thin layers will make rolling easier later on.

Step 4

Step 5

When the egg is about 70% cooked and the surface is still moist, place the pre-cut cheddar cheese slices evenly over the cooked egg. Be careful not to overcook, as the egg might tear.

Step 5

Step 6

Starting from the edge of the egg, place the prepared Vienna sausages neatly. Using chopsticks or a spatula, roll the egg around the sausages and cheese, enclosing them. The melting cheese acts as a binder, helping to hold the sausages in place.

Step 6

Step 7

Once all the sausages are rolled inside, gently push the rolled omelet to the side of the pan and continue to cook, rolling it to ensure all sides are evenly golden brown. Cooking all sides well will ensure the inside is cooked through and the shape holds beautifully.

Step 7

Step 8

Your Mini Cheese Sausage Rolled Omelets are now complete – they look and taste wonderful! These are perfect as a side dish for your children or as a delightful addition to picnics and bento boxes. Enjoy your delicious meal!
