Mediterranean Style Grilled Mackerel
[183Kcal] A Deliciously Different Way to Enjoy Mackerel: Mediterranean Style Grilled Mackerel
A while ago, I bought a generous pack of mackerel, and today I decided to prepare it in a fresh, Mediterranean style! I’ve also made a Mediterranean salad with quinoa to serve alongside. This recipe offers a delightful change from the usual way of cooking mackerel, infusing it with aromatic spices and bright citrus notes.
Ingredients- Mackerel 100g
- Cumin powder, a pinch
- Lemon 1
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your oven-safe dish by lining it with a piece of aluminum foil. This makes for easier cleanup after cooking.
Step 2
Place the mackerel fillet(s) onto the prepared aluminum foil.
Step 3
Sprinkle the mackerel generously with cumin powder, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. If your mackerel is already salted or seasoned, you can omit or reduce the salt accordingly. The cumin adds a wonderful, earthy aroma.
Step 4
Take one lemon and slice it thinly into three rounds, placing these slices on top of the mackerel. Then, juice the remaining part of the lemon and drizzle it evenly over the fish. The lemon juice will add a zesty brightness and help cut through the richness of the mackerel.
Step 5
Carefully wrap the aluminum foil to create a sealed packet around the mackerel. This steaming effect will keep the fish moist and allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 6
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (approximately 400°F) for about 20 minutes, or until the mackerel is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fish and your oven. Serve hot and enjoy this delightful Mediterranean-inspired dish!
