Lighten Up Your Day! ABC Juice with the Perfect Ratio
The Ultimate Guide to ABC Juice: Achieving the Perfect Balance of Carrot, Apple, and Beetroot
In these times when outdoor exercise is challenging due to the pandemic, many of us are finding our waistlines expanding. With a blender readily available, I’ve decided to make a healthy juice every morning to support my well-being. The process is surprisingly simple: all you need are apples, carrots, and beetroots, along with a blending machine. As is widely known, the optimal ‘golden ratio’ for ABC juice is one apple, one carrot, and one-third of a beetroot. Let’s try making this beneficial ABC juice together!
Ingredients- 1 Apple (thoroughly washed)
- 1 Carrot (thoroughly washed)
- 1/3 Beetroot (thoroughly washed)
- 200ml Water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your core ABC juice ingredients: 1 apple, 1 carrot, and 1/3 beetroot. It’s crucial to thoroughly wash these fruits and vegetables to remove any residual pesticides or impurities. The best method is to soak them in a solution of baking soda and water for about 5 minutes, then rinse them under running water. If you don’t have baking soda, you can use vinegar as an alternative. Rinsing under running water is more effective for removing residue than simply soaking them in a bowl of water.
Step 2
Now, it’s time to prepare the ingredients for the blender. To ensure they blend smoothly and efficiently, cut the apple, carrot, and beetroot into manageable, bite-sized pieces. Avoid putting them in whole, as this can strain your blender or result in an uneven texture.
Step 3
Have your prepared apple, carrot, and beetroot ready, along with 200ml of water. While you can blend the ingredients on their own, the juice might turn out quite thick. Adding water or barley tea (boricha) as specified will help the blender process the ingredients more smoothly, making the juicing process much easier.
Step 4
Once all the ingredients are in the blender, simply turn it on and blend! It’s that easy.
Step 5
The blending time may vary depending on the power of your blender or food processor. In my household blender, it took approximately 1 to 1.5 minutes to achieve a fine, smooth consistency. Adjust the time according to your specific appliance.
Step 6
After blending, the ABC juice will boast a vibrant, deep red color, reminiscent of strawberry jam but even richer and more intense. This striking hue comes from the beetroot and the combination of all red-hued ingredients, making it as visually appealing as it is healthy.
Step 7
The final consistency of your juice can differ based on the power of your blender. Some people prefer a thicker texture, almost like yogurt, that can be eaten with a spoon. Others might enjoy a thinner, more traditional juice consistency that can be easily sipped from a glass. It’s best to adjust the amount of water according to your personal preference to achieve your desired thickness.
Step 8
Drinking the ABC juice immediately after preparation allows you to fully appreciate the distinct flavors of each ingredient and the freshness of the vegetables. However, if you’re not fond of the natural ‘grassy’ taste of vegetables, we recommend chilling the juice in the refrigerator before drinking. Cold temperatures help to mellow out any perceived earthiness and enhance the fresh, vibrant flavors of the apple, carrot, and beetroot, making it even more enjoyable.
