  • Minced garlic 1 tsp
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1/2 tsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 1/2 tsp
  • Soy sauce 1 tsp
  • Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) 1 tsp
  • Plum extract 1 tsp
  • Cooking wine (or Mirin) 1 tsp
  • Sesame oil 1 tsp
  • Chicken sauce 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds 1 tsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Today, we’re going to make a special stir-fry dish using leftover Jokbal that’s been stored in the refrigerator. It’s perfect for those times when you have a little Jokbal left over and eating it as is feels a bit lackluster, but you don’t want to waste it!

Step 1

Step 2

First, let’s prepare the delicious sauce for the Jokbal stir-fry. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, oligosaccharide, plum extract, cooking wine, and sesame oil. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined. You’ll have a perfectly balanced sweet and spicy sauce.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, heat a pan over low heat and add the prepared sauce. Stir-frying the sauce first like this will develop a deeper, richer flavor. Be careful not to burn the sauce, and cook it gently.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the sauce begins to simmer, add the leftover Jokbal (cut into bite-sized pieces) and stir-fry over high heat. Toss the Jokbal to ensure it’s evenly coated with the sauce and absorbs all the wonderful flavors. Finally, add the chicken sauce for an extra boost of umami and stir-fry for another moment. Cook until the Jokbal is heated through and the sauce has melded beautifully. Then, remove from heat.

Step 4

Step 5

And there you have it! Your ordinary leftover Jokbal has been transformed into an extraordinary ‘Spicy and Sweet Jokbal Stir-fry’! Sprinkle with sesame seeds for a final touch, enhancing both the appearance and the taste. Enjoy this hearty and delicious meal made from your leftovers!
