Kyuhyun’s Japchae-Bap Style Cup Noodles with Smoked Duck Stir-fry

I decided to recreate Kyuhyun’s Japchae-Bap recipe from ‘I Live Alone’ using Cup Noodles! The rich flavor of smoked duck, the chewy texture of Cup Noodles, and the fresh vegetables come together to create a delicious and satisfying meal or late-night snack in no time. Even beginner cooks can whip this up easily, so give it a try!
Main Ingredients
- 1 Cup Noodle (spicy flavor recommended)
- 200g Sliced Smoked Duck
- 1/2 Onion (sliced)
- 1 Mushroom (sliced)
- 1/2 Scallion (chopped)
Seasoning Sauce
- 1 tsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tsp Oligodang (or sugar)
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tsp Oligodang (or sugar)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the main ingredients and seasoning ingredients for your dish. You’ll need Cup Noodles (the spicy flavor works best!), smoked duck, onion, mushrooms, and scallions. For the sauce, gather oyster sauce, oligodang (or sugar for sweetness adjustment), minced garlic, black pepper, and soy sauce.
Step 2
In the Cup Noodles container, add both the powder soup base and the dried vegetable flakes. Next, add the minced garlic (1 tsp), oyster sauce (1 tsp), oligodang (1 tsp), and soy sauce (1 tsp). Pour in an appropriate amount of water and mix everything well to prepare the sauce. (You can refer to the water amount indicated on the Cup Noodles package.)
Step 3
Double-check your seasoning sauce ingredients: 1 tsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp oligodang, and 1 tsp soy sauce. You can adjust this ratio to your preference.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat and add the sliced smoked duck. Stir-fry until the duck releases some of its fat. Then, add the sliced onion, chopped scallions, and sliced mushrooms. Continue to stir-fry until the vegetables soften and become lightly browned.
Step 5
Once the smoked duck has rendered some oil and the vegetables are cooked to your liking, pour the prepared Cup Noodles mixture (with sauce and water) into the pan. Stir well to combine the noodles with the sauce and other ingredients as the noodles cook.
Step 6
As the Cup Noodles become tender and the sauce starts to thicken slightly, freshly grind in some black pepper to enhance the aroma. The zesty kick of black pepper will elevate the flavor of this Japchae-Bap.
Step 7
When the sauce has reduced to a savory, slightly thick consistency and all the ingredients are well combined, your delicious Cup Noodles with Smoked Duck Japchae-Bap is ready! Enjoy it warm for the best taste.
