Cookie Ingredients

  • Approximately 12 Hershey’s Kisses
  • 160g cake flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 3g baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 20g peanut butter
  • 70g unsalted butter
  • 50g granulated sugar
  • 1g salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

This recipe yields about 12 cookies. It’s important to have all your ingredients at room temperature for the best cookie texture. Cold ingredients can make the dough difficult to work with and affect the final result.

Step 1

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and peanut butter using a whisk or electric mixer until smooth and well combined. Then, gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to mix.

Step 2

Step 3

Beat the mixture for about 2 minutes until it becomes light and fluffy. Next, add the room temperature egg and whisk thoroughly until fully incorporated. Ensure the egg is completely blended into the butter mixture to prevent separation.

Step 3

Step 4

In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour and baking powder. Sifting helps to aerate the flour and remove lumps, leading to a lighter cookie. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix gently with a rubber spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough cookies.

Step 4

Step 5

Your cookie dough is now ready! It should be soft and slightly sticky.

Step 5

Step 6

Take portions of the dough, about the size of a large gumball, and roll them into balls. Gently flatten each ball slightly with your palm. Place some extra granulated sugar (not listed in the ingredients) on a small plate. Press the top of each cookie ball into the sugar, coating only the top surface. This will create a lovely sugary crust when baked.

Step 6

Step 7

Arrange the sugar-coated cookie dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving adequate space between them as they will spread during baking. Using your thumb, gently press an indentation into the center of each cookie dough ball. This will create a perfect little nest for the Hershey’s Kiss.

Step 7

Step 8

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.

Step 8

Step 9

While the cookies are still warm, carefully place one Hershey’s Kiss into the indentation you made in the center of each cookie. Press down gently so the chocolate sits snugly in the cookie.

Step 9

Step 10

Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 3-4 minutes. This brief baking time will allow the Hershey’s Kiss to melt beautifully into the cookie. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Step 10

Step 11

Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, they are ready to be beautifully packaged as a thoughtful gift or enjoyed as a delicious homemade treat!^^~
