Transform leftover cold rice into a delightful meal in no time with bacon and eggs! This basic bacon fried rice is a hit with kids and is simple yet satisfying, making it perfect for a weekend treat or a busy weekday lunch. We’ll guide you through a detailed recipe that enhances flavor with fragrant scallion oil, balancing the savory notes of bacon with the creamy texture of eggs, ensuring a universally loved fried rice dish.
Main Ingredients- 1.5 bowls cooked rice (warmed)
- 4 strips thick-cut bacon
- 3 fresh eggs
- 1 stalk green onion (white part mainly)
- 0.5 tsp minced garlic
- 0.5 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the bacon. Cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 1-1.5 cm wide. You can adjust the size based on your preference and the thickness of the bacon.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onion, focusing on the white parts, and add it to the pan with the minced garlic. Sauté over medium-low heat until fragrant, creating a delicious scallion oil. Be careful not to burn the aromatics; extracting their aroma is key.
Step 3
Once the fragrance of the scallion oil develops, add the chopped bacon and stir-fry together. The bacon will render its fat, adding a richer, savory flavor. Cook until the bacon is golden brown and crisp.
Step 4
Push the cooked bacon to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty space to make scrambled eggs. While you can make scrambled eggs separately and mix them in, cooking them directly in the pan reduces cleanup and is more efficient. As the eggs begin to set, gently stir with a spatula to scramble them.
Step 5
When the scrambled eggs are about 80% cooked, add the warmed cooked rice. Use your spatula to break up any clumps of rice and mix it well with the bacon, eggs, and scallions. Now, season with soy sauce and oyster sauce. Adjust the amounts to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the fried rice.
Step 6
Once all ingredients are well combined, spread the rice evenly in the pan and press it down slightly. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes. This technique helps to achieve a slightly crispy texture for the rice grains and adds a hint of wok hei (smoky flavor), making it even more delicious. Serve immediately while hot for the perfect bacon fried rice!
