Main Ingredients

  • 20 Vienna sausages
  • 1/2 Bell pepper (using different colors makes it more visually appealing)
  • A small amount of Carrot (about 1/4 of a carrot)
  • 1/3 Onion
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking oil
  • A sprinkle of Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Seasoning

  • 3 Tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Oligodang (or corn syrup)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced garlic
  • A pinch of Black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables and garlic for the sautéed Vienna sausages. Wash the onion, carrot, cucumber, and bell pepper thoroughly, then chop them into bite-sized pieces or according to your preference. (e.g., slice carrots and cucumber into 0.5 cm thick half-moons, and chop onion and bell pepper into 1 cm squares). Mince or crush the whole garlic cloves with a knife. Feel free to use other vegetables you have in your fridge (e.g., broccoli, mushrooms)!

Step 1

Step 2

To make the Vienna sausages more plump and remove excess oil, briefly blanch them in boiling water. Afterward, score the sausages with a knife. Make shallow cross-shaped cuts so they open up beautifully like flowers when cooked. Creating different patterns with the cuts can make them more fun for children!

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning for the sautéed Vienna sausages! In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons of oligodang, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, and a pinch of black pepper.

Step 3

Step 4

Stir the seasoning ingredients together with a spoon until well combined to create the tasty sauce. Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic (or minced garlic) and sauté slowly until fragrant. The garlic aroma will infuse the oil, adding a deeper flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the garlic is fragrant, add the scored Vienna sausages to the pan and sauté them together. Stir-fry until the sausages are coated in oil and lightly browned.

Step 6

Step 7

When the cuts on the Vienna sausages start to open up, add all the pre-chopped vegetables to the pan. It’s important to stir-fry quickly over high heat to maintain the crispness of the vegetables.

Step 7

Step 8

Now, pour in all the prepared seasoning sauce and stir-fry quickly over high heat, ensuring everything is evenly mixed. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the sauce coats the vegetables and sausages evenly. Be careful not to overcook, as the vegetables can become mushy.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, your delicious Sautéed Vienna Sausages with Vegetables is ready! Just like the saying goes, ‘food that looks good tastes good,’ so sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for a more appetizing finish. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your meal!
