Steak Ingredients

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Remove the beef steak from the refrigerator about 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking to bring it to room temperature. Gently pound the meat with the back of a knife or a meat tenderizer to help tenderize the texture.

Season the beef evenly on all sides with salt and black pepper. Adjust the amount according to your preference; avoid over-seasoning.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of olive oil. Place the seasoned beef in the hot pan and sear each side for 3-5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steak, until golden brown.

Once the steak is partially cooked, use a spatula or tongs to gently press down on the top surface while flipping. This helps to ensure even cooking throughout the steak without pressing too hard, which could release juices.

Do not slice the steak immediately after cooking. Place two chopsticks parallel on a plate or cutting board and rest the steak on top. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more moist and tender steak.

Make the Sauce: Finely slice or mince the onion. In a saucepan, combine the sliced or minced onion, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 Tbsp ginger juice, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp aronia juice, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 3 Tbsp water. Stir well, then simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Slice the rested steak into your desired serving portions. Arrange the sliced steak, pan-fried tofu, and fresh vegetables like cucumber and bell pepper attractively on a plate. Drizzle generously with the prepared onion sauce. For an extra layer of flavor, you can also lightly sauté the steak with the sauce before serving.
