Main Ingredients

- 2 Eggs
- 1 handful Scallions (approx. 10-15g)
- 1 serving Warm Rice
Soy Glaze
- 2 Tbsp Water
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking sake)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp Water
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking sake)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the delicious soy glaze for our rice bowl. In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp water, 1 Tbsp mirin, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, 1 Tbsp sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir with a spoon until all the ingredients are well combined. It’s important to mix thoroughly to dissolve the sugar completely.
Step 2
Wash the scallions thoroughly and pat them dry. Then, finely chop them into pieces about 0.5cm thick. The green parts of the scallions will add a beautiful color and fresh aroma to your finished dish.
Step 3
Open the Spam can and take out half of it (about 200g). Slice the Spam into three equal pieces, each about 1cm thick.
Step 4
Now, cut these Spam slices in a zigzag pattern. This shape makes the Spam look more appetizing when cooked and helps it absorb the sauce better, resulting in even greater flavor.
Step 5
Now it’s time to make fluffy scrambled eggs. Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat, add about 1 Tbsp of cooking oil, and crack in the 2 eggs.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low and gently stir the eggs with chopsticks to create soft, creamy scrambled eggs. Once they are cooked to your liking, transfer the scrambled eggs to a separate bowl.
Step 7
In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed, and place the sliced Spam pieces. Cook over medium heat, flipping the Spam slices back and forth until they are golden brown and slightly crispy on both sides. This step enhances the Spam’s natural flavor and makes it even more delicious.
Step 8
Once the Spam is nicely browned, pour the prepared soy glaze mixture into the pan. Keep the heat at medium-low and spoon the sauce over the Spam as it simmers. Continue to cook until the sauce thickens and coats the Spam beautifully, giving it a glossy finish. This glaze is key to the dish’s flavor.
Step 9
Now, let’s assemble the rice bowl. Place one serving of warm cooked rice into a serving bowl.
Step 10
Arrange the glossy, glazed Spam pieces attractively on one side of the rice. The vibrant color of the Spam will make the bowl look inviting.
Step 11
On the other side of the rice, generously spoon the fluffy scrambled eggs. The combination of Spam and eggs is always a winner!
Step 12
Finally, drizzle the delicious soy glaze remaining in the pan evenly over the rice, Spam, and eggs. This sauce will elevate the overall taste of the dish.
Step 13
Sprinkle the chopped scallions over the top. Your delicious ‘Soy-Glazed Spam Rice Bowl’ is ready! Enjoy your meal!
