Ingredients- 10 sheets of Gim (seaweed, preferably type ‘paraegim’)
- 0.5 Tbsp perilla oil (or sesame oil)
- A pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. Brush Gim with Perilla Oil: Lay out the gim sheets one by one. Wearing disposable gloves, evenly brush both sides of each gim sheet with perilla oil. This step is similar to pan-frying and helps the gim achieve its characteristic crispness and adds a nutty aroma.
Step 2
2. Cut Gim into Pieces: Stack about 5 sheets of gim at a time and cut them into 8 equal pieces. Cutting the gim before roasting is more effective for even cooking in the air fryer, unlike the traditional method where gim is often cut after roasting. Arrange the cut pieces neatly for easy placement in the air fryer.
Step 3
3. Preheat Air Fryer and Roast: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for 2 minutes. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Arrange the cut gim pieces in a single layer on the parchment paper. Sprinkle a pinch of salt evenly over the gim. Air fry for a few minutes until crispy. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning. Enjoy your perfectly crispy homemade gim!
