Ingredients- 500ml milk
- 1 ripe mango or apple mango
- 2 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the milk base for your shaved ice. In a bowl, combine 500ml of milk with 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk. Gently stir with a spatula or spoon until well combined, being careful not to create too much foam.
Step 2
Pour the sweetened milk mixture into a zip-top bag. Press out as much air as possible and flatten the bag to ensure even freezing. Place it in the freezer until solid. Freezing it thinly will make it easier to grate later.
Step 3
Next, prepare the fresh mango. Cut the mango in half lengthwise, avoiding the pit. Peel the skin thinly. If you find peeling difficult, a vegetable peeler works well. Once peeled, thinly slice the mango crosswise, keeping the flesh intact.
Step 4
Once the milk is completely frozen, take it out of the freezer and place it on a tray. Break the frozen milk block into manageable pieces. This will make it easier to grate.
Step 5
No ice shaver? No problem! You can achieve a wonderfully fine texture using a box grater or a vegetable grater. Since you’re grating frozen milk instead of water ice, it will grate smoothly and add a creamy richness.
Step 6
Transfer the finely grated milk ice into your serving bowl. Pile it high like a snowy mountain for a visually appealing presentation.
Step 7
Arrange the thinly sliced mango pieces attractively over the grated milk ice. Start from the edges and layer them towards the center, creating a beautiful mango topping.
Step 8
Finally, for an extra indulgence, top your mango bingsu with a scoop of ice cream! If you prefer a sweeter dessert, a drizzle of extra sweetened condensed milk is also a delicious option. Your delightful mango bingsu is now ready to enjoy!
