Homemade Strawberry Jam
Golden Recipe for Homemade Strawberry Jam Using Seasonal Fresh Strawberries
This is a simple recipe for making healthy homemade strawberry jam using ripe seasonal strawberries. Enjoy the pure flavor of fresh strawberries without any artificial additives.
Main Ingredients- 1 pack strawberries (approx. 300-400g)
Additional Ingredients- 1 cup sugar (approx. 150-200g, adjust to taste and strawberry quantity)
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (or 2 Tbsp lime juice)
- 1 cup sugar (approx. 150-200g, adjust to taste and strawberry quantity)
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (or 2 Tbsp lime juice)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently wash the fresh strawberries under running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Once most of the moisture is gone, carefully remove the stems. Place the prepared strawberries into a pot. While the general rule is to use equal parts strawberries and sugar, if you don’t plan to store it for a long time or prefer a less sweet jam, using about 2/3 the amount of sugar relative to strawberries, or adjusting based on taste, is a good approach.
Step 2
As the strawberries begin to simmer, skim off any foam that forms on the surface of the pot. Adding 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice or 2 tablespoons of lime juice at this stage will enhance the jam’s tangy flavor and help maintain its vibrant red color.
Step 3
Continue to skim off any foam that reappears around the edges. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low. It’s crucial to stir frequently to prevent scorching while allowing the jam to gently reduce. If you’re working with a smaller batch, the total cooking time might be around 40 minutes.
Step 4
As the jam simmers, you’ll notice its color gradually deepening into a richer, more intense red.
Step 5
The sweet and tangy aroma of strawberries will fill your kitchen as the jam thickens. You’ll be tempted to taste it right away, but it’s still a bit thin, so let it reduce a little longer.
Step 6
As the jam continues to cook down, gradually lower the heat to find the perfect consistency. Just before it’s done, when you stir with a spatula, it shouldn’t be too stiff. A light, jelly-like consistency, where it easily slides off the spatula, is ideal. Avoid overcooking it until it becomes too thick.
Step 7
Once it reaches your desired consistency, cook for about another 30 seconds before turning off the heat. It’s important not to let it get too stiff, as the jam will thicken further as it cools.
Step 8
Transfer the nicely reduced strawberry jam into a clean jar and let it cool completely. Your delicious homemade strawberry jam will be ready! Enjoy the wonderfully fresh strawberry scent filling your kitchen as you wrap up your delightful baking session.
