Homemade Grape Jam: Rich & Delicious Summer Flavor
[Summer Fruit] Homemade Grape Jam
Experience the intense grape flavor of homemade jam, crafted with care in your own kitchen.
Ingredients- 3 bunches of fresh grapes (stems removed)
- 200g sugar (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gently detach the grapes from their stems. Place the separated grapes in a colander and rinse them thoroughly under running water. Transfer the washed grapes to a large bowl. Use your hands to mash the grapes, separating the skins from the pulp and seeds. Pour the pulp and juice into one bowl, and place the grape skins into a blender for the next step.
Step 2
Blend the grape skins in the blender until they are coarsely ground, not completely smooth. This will provide a pleasant texture in the jam. (Alternatively, you can blend them until very smooth if you prefer. Blending the skins well will result in a wonderfully deep color for your jam.)
Step 3
Place the grape pulp and juice (from step 0) into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 8-10 minutes, until the grapes are soft and heated through. Once slightly cooled, use a spatula to press and remove the seeds from the cooked grapes. (You can also strain the grapes through a sieve and press with a spatula, or wear gloves and gently squeeze them to remove seeds. Please be cautious as they may still be hot!) Once all seeds are removed, combine the pulp with the blended grape skins in the bowl. Add the 200g of sugar (white or brown, depending on your preference) and stir well until fully incorporated. Return the mixture to the microwave and cook for another 10 minutes.
Step 4
Transfer the grape mixture from the microwave into a saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and stir continuously as it simmers. Be sure to stir frequently to prevent sticking and burning at the bottom.
Step 5
Once the jam has reached a thickened consistency, remove it from the heat. To help it cool quickly and achieve a better texture, place the saucepan into a sink filled with cold water. Stir the jam constantly while it cools in the ice bath.
Step 6
The finished grape jam boasts a beautifully deep, rich color, a testament to the quality of the grapes. I used a bit less sugar, so it’s not as thick as some jams, but the natural tartness of the grapes really shines through, which I find delightful. Feel free to adjust the sugar amount to achieve your desired sweetness and consistency. Store the jam in sterilized jars in the refrigerator to enjoy the taste of fresh grapes for a long time. Enjoy your homemade creation!
