Today, I decided to bake my own bread and make an Egg Drop Sandwich! While I’ve never actually bought or tasted an Egg Drop Sandwich from a shop, watching the process online made it seem surprisingly easy to recreate at home. So, I gave it a shot! Since I didn’t have any condensed milk, I used syrup as a substitute, and the result was wonderfully sweet and delicious. The homemade bread itself was incredibly soft and flavorful, providing the perfect base. Combined with the other delicious ingredients, it was a match made in heaven! I opted for garlic bread, and the sauce wasn’t too heavy, which meant even without any vegetables, the sandwich didn’t feel greasy at all. Perhaps it was because I only tasted a small bite? My eldest son absolutely loved it, while my younger son found it a bit rich and asked for kimchi! I often crave baking all sorts of pastries and breads, but I try to limit myself as they can be unhealthy. However, when I do make them myself, I can control the quality of ingredients and adjust butter and sugar, though the calorie count remains formidable, which makes me hesitant. But when I do indulge occasionally, it’s an unparalleled treat, and I end up devouring it! This thick sandwich, packed with generous fillings, guarantees a delightful experience with every bite.   • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp syrup (or condensed milk)
  • Pinch of parsley flakes (for garnish)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the bread, the foundation of your sandwich. You can trim the crusts if you prefer, or leave them on for a heartier bite. Slice each bread piece horizontally to create top and bottom halves.

Let’s make delicious garlic bread! In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp softened butter, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp syrup (or condensed milk), and a pinch of parsley flakes. Mix well to create the garlic butter sauce. Spread this mixture evenly on the inner side of each bread half. Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Place the bread halves, sauce-side up, and toast until golden brown. Be sure to manage the heat to prevent burning.

Now, let’s prepare the creamy sauce, the heart of the sandwich. Crack 5 eggs into a bowl and whisk them with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir in 3 Tbsp of mayonnaise and 1 Tbsp of Sriracha sauce. You can adjust the amount of Sriracha to your preference for spice. This creates a smooth and flavorful sauce!

Finally, let’s assemble your amazing Egg Drop Sandwich! Place one slice of cheese on the inner (sauce-coated) side of each toasted garlic bread half, allowing it to soften slightly from the warmth. Generously spoon the fluffy scrambled eggs over the cheese. Top with the crispy bacon strips. Finally, place the other bread half on top to complete your delicious sandwich! For an extra touch, sprinkle with parsley flakes if desired.
