Ingredients- 170g cake flour
- 1g baking powder (approx. 1/4 tsp)
- 1g salt (approx. 1/4 tsp)
- 1g baking soda (approx. 1/4 tsp)
- 1 egg, at room temperature
- 110g butter, softened to room temperature
- 80g granulated sugar
- 2 handfuls of chocolate chips (adjust quantity to your preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let the 110g of butter soften at room temperature until it reaches a creamy consistency. Place the softened butter in a bowl and add 80g of sugar in three installments, creaming well with a whisk after each addition. Start by mixing lightly, then continue whisking until you achieve a smooth, creamy texture.
Step 2
Once the butter and sugar are well combined into a cream, add 1 room-temperature egg. Whisk vigorously to incorporate the egg without causing the butter mixture to separate. Adding the egg all at once can cause separation, so whisk thoroughly until the yolk and white are fully blended.
Step 3
Now, prepare the dry ingredients. Measure 170g of cake flour, 1g of baking powder, 1g of salt, and 1g of baking soda into a bowl. Sift these dry ingredients together 2-3 times using a sieve. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter mixture and gently fold them in using a spatula, using a cutting motion.
Step 4
Continue to mix with the spatula until no dry flour streaks remain, being careful not to overmix and prevent too much flour dust. Avoid overmixing, as this can lead to tough cookies. Mix just until the ingredients come together to form a dough. Don’t worry if the dough seems a bit sticky.
Step 5
Once the dough is partially mixed, add 2 handfuls of chocolate chips and gently fold them in with the spatula until evenly distributed. The more chocolate chips you add, the richer and more delicious your cookies will be! Feel free to mix dark and milk chocolate chips for added flavor.
Step 6
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a spoon or an ice cream scoop, portion out the dough into roughly 30-40g balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie. The dough might be a bit sticky, so wetting your hands slightly or using a scoop can help in shaping. Flatten the dough balls slightly. If desired, press a few extra chocolate chips onto the tops of the cookies for decoration.
Step 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Baking time may vary depending on your oven. Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet to achieve a crispy texture. Enjoy them with a warm glass of milk or a cup of coffee!
