Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Chicken
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 60 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 500g Chicken breast
  • 200ml Milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • All-purpose flour, as needed
  • Breadcrumbs, as needed
  • Vegetable oil, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, to remove any gamey smell from the chicken breast, place 500g of chicken breast and 200ml of milk in a bowl and let it soak for 30 minutes. The milk will effectively neutralize any odor, resulting in more tender and delicious nuggets.

Step 1

Step 2

While the chicken is soaking, prepare your dredging stations. Set up three shallow dishes or plates: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs (whisk 2 eggs well), and one with breadcrumbs. Have plenty of each.

Step 2

Step 3

Remove the chicken breast from the milk soak, rinse it thoroughly under cold water, and pat it dry. Then, finely mince the chicken breast using a food processor (chopper). It’s important to mince it evenly without any large chunks remaining.

Step 3

Step 4

Transfer the minced chicken breast to a bowl. Knead the mixture with your hands until it becomes sticky and cohesive, developing a chewy texture. Form the mixture into desired shapes, such as round or flat patties. Then, coat each nugget by first dipping it in the all-purpose flour, followed by the beaten egg, and finally pressing it firmly into the breadcrumbs. Ensure an even coating of breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a pot or deep skillet to about 170°C (340°F). (You can test the oil temperature by dropping a wooden chopstick; if bubbles form around it, the oil is ready). Carefully place the coated chicken nuggets into the preheated oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the nuggets until they are golden brown on all sides, turning them occasionally. Frying over high heat might burn the outside before the inside is cooked, so maintain a medium-low heat for even cooking. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove the nuggets from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Your delicious homemade chicken nuggets are now ready!
