Ingredients
  • 500g frozen blueberries
  • 350g sugar (70% of blueberry weight)
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, in a pot suitable for making jam, combine the 500g of frozen blueberries and 350g of sugar. Using sugar at about 70% of the blueberry weight helps achieve a good balance of sweetness and consistency. (For 500g blueberries, use 350g sugar).

Step 2

Next, place the pot over medium heat and let it simmer gently for about 20 to 25 minutes. It’s important to stir occasionally with a spatula to prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom of the pot. The blueberries will soften and break down as they cook and reduce.

Step 3

While the jam is simmering, add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to enhance the fruity flavor and act as a natural preservative. Stir well to combine. Once the jam has reached your desired consistency, carefully pour the hot jam into a sterilized glass jar and seal it tightly. Your delicious homemade blueberry jam is now ready!

Step 4

Jam Consistency Tip: To check if your jam has reached the right thickness, drop a small amount onto a plate that has been in the freezer for a few minutes, or into a glass of cold water. If the drop holds its shape and doesn’t spread out too much, as shown in the picture, it’s ready. If it seems too thin, continue simmering for a few more minutes to evaporate more liquid.
