Homemade Blueberry Jam: A Deliciously Sweet and Fruity Preserve
How to Make Perfect Blueberry Jam at Home
Create your own delicious blueberry jam with this simple recipe! Bursting with the fresh, sweet flavor of blueberries, this homemade jam is perfect for toast, yogurt, or as a dessert topping.
Jam Ingredients- 500g frozen blueberries (do not thaw)
- 400g granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by preparing 500g of frozen blueberries. You can use them directly from frozen, as this helps achieve the right consistency for the jam. No need to thaw them beforehand.
Step 2
Add 400g of granulated sugar to the frozen blueberries in a pot. The amount of sugar can be adjusted based on the tartness of your blueberries and your personal preference for sweetness.
Step 3
Gently mix the blueberries and sugar together. Use a spoon or spatula to combine them without mashing the berries too much. Allowing them to sit for a bit will help the blueberries release their juices and the sugar begin to dissolve.
Step 4
Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking to the bottom. The jam is ready when it thickens and large bubbles start to form.
Step 5
Just before you’re done cooking, stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Lemon juice not only brightens the flavor and color of the jam but also acts as a natural preservative, helping it last longer.
Step 6
Stir well to incorporate the lemon juice. Your delicious homemade blueberry jam is now complete! Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, let them cool, and then store them in the refrigerator. Enjoy it on toast, with yogurt, or as a topping for your favorite desserts.
