  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Mokuchon boiled dumplings 100g
  • Chicken tenderloins 3 pieces (approx. 150g)
  • Water 4 cups (approx. 800ml)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s create a rich and deep broth using the chicken tenderloins. Place the chicken tenderloins in a pot along with the white parts of the washed green onion, whole garlic cloves, and a roughly chopped onion. Pour in about 4 cups (approx. 800ml) of water, enough to cover the chicken, and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 20-30 minutes until the chicken is tender and the broth becomes milky and flavorful. After simmering, carefully strain the solids using a sieve, reserving the clear, delicious chicken broth in the pot. Once cooled, you can shred the cooked chicken to add back later if desired.

Step 2

Now, let’s prepare the vegetables for the soup. Wash the carrot and zucchini, then slice them into uniform bite-sized pieces, about 5mm thick, perhaps in half-moon or square shapes. Peel the small potatoes and cut them into pieces similar in size to the carrots. Slicing the vegetables uniformly ensures they cook evenly and makes the soup visually appealing. Add all the prepared vegetables to the pot with the chicken broth. Return the pot to medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook until the vegetables are slightly tender, allowing their flavors to infuse into the broth.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the vegetables are somewhat cooked, add 100g of Mokuchon boiled dumplings. You can add them directly from frozen. Stir gently to prevent the dumplings from sticking to the bottom of the pot, and cook until the dumplings float to the surface and are fully cooked. When the dumplings are done, reduce the heat to low and season the soup with 2 tsp of sesame oil and 1/3 tsp of salt. You can adjust the amount of salt according to your preference. Simmer briefly for the flavors to meld together, and your delicious mandu soup is ready! Serve hot and enjoy.
