Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the complementary ingredients that will enhance your Pho. Finely chop the Korean green chili pepper and either smash the whole garlic cloves with the side of a knife or mince them finely. This preparation helps the garlic flavor infuse better into the broth.
Step 2
To cleanly remove any gaminess from the beef, pour a little soju (or cooking wine) over the prepared beef and let it marinate for about 10 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving a clean and pure Pho flavor.
Step 3
Fill a wide pot with plenty of water and set it over high heat. This water is for boiling the broth, so make sure to use a generous amount.
Step 4
Once the water is at a rolling boil, carefully add the Pho noodles. Use the noodles included in the easy kit.
Step 5
Gently stir the noodles with chopsticks to prevent them from sticking together, and cook for about 5 minutes. You can adjust the cooking time based on your preferred noodle texture.
Step 6
Once the noodles are cooked, drain them in a colander and quickly rinse under cold running water to cool them down. Rinsing with cold water makes the noodles more al dente and removes excess starch.
Step 7
Drain the noodles thoroughly and place them attractively in a large serving bowl. Now, it’s time to prepare the delicious broth.
Step 8
Rinse out the pot and refill it with fresh water. Bring it to a boil over high heat again. This time, we’ll create the rich broth base for the Pho.
Step 9
Remove the beef from the soju marinade and add it to the boiling water to cook. Gently separate the beef slices as they cook to prevent clumping.
Step 10
Once the beef is fully cooked, scoop it out with a ladle and place it in the serving bowl with the noodles. This way, you’ll have a visually appealing bowl of Pho once the broth is added.
Step 11
Rinse the pot used for cooking the beef thoroughly. Add fresh water back into the pot, and add the diagonally sliced leeks. Bring this to a boil to infuse the broth with the leeks’ refreshing aroma.
Step 12
Once the water boils, add the Pho soup base (broth packet) to create a rich broth foundation.
Step 13
Add the thinly sliced onions to the pot and let them simmer. This will add a subtle sweetness to the broth as the onions soften.
Step 14
If your Pho kit includes garnishes like bean sprouts or cilantro, add them now and cook briefly. (Omit if not included in your basic kit).
Step 15
Return the pre-cooked beef to the pot and simmer for a little longer, allowing all the flavors to meld together beautifully.
Step 16
Let the broth come to a gentle simmer, ensuring all the ingredients meld together. This is the moment your delicious Pho broth is ready.
Step 17
Carefully ladle the hot, finished broth over the noodles in the serving bowl. Pour enough broth to generously cover the noodles.
Step 18
And there you have it – a hearty and delicious beef Pho! Doesn’t it look appetizing?
Step 19
Finally, add the chopped Korean green chili pepper and minced garlic to your liking for an extra spicy and refreshing kick. Enjoy your meal!
