Main Ingredients- Beef (Hanwoo recommended) 400g
- Dried Seaweed 4 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic 2 cloves
Seasoning & Flavoring- Soy Sauce (Brewed) 1 Tbsp
- Cooking Wine (Mirin) 1 Tbsp
- Anchovy Fish Sauce 2 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce (Brewed) 1 Tbsp
- Cooking Wine (Mirin) 1 Tbsp
- Anchovy Fish Sauce 2 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat 1 Tbsp of sesame oil in a pan. Add the 400g of beef (Hanwoo beef is recommended for a tender texture) and stir-fry over medium-high heat until the beef is about half-cooked.
Step 2
Once the beef is partially cooked, add 1 Tbsp of cooking wine (Mirin) and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce and continue to stir-fry. Then, pour in one cup of water, bring it to a boil briefly, and discard the water. This is Kkaejaengi’s special technique to remove impurities and any gamey odors from the beef – be sure to follow it! (Avoid boiling for too long during this step).
Step 3
For convenience, use 4 Tbsp of pre-cut dried seaweed. (This type can be used immediately without soaking.) If you are making about 2 servings, use approximately 2 Tbsp of seaweed.
Step 4
Finely mince or crush 2 cloves of garlic and add them to the pot. At this stage, add 2 Tbsp of anchovy fish sauce to season the soup, enhancing its savory depth.
Step 5
Your delicious Korean Beef and Seaweed Soup is now ready! Enjoy it while it’s warm.
