- 1.5 cups brown rice
- 0.5 cup glutinous rice
- 1 cup regular white rice
- 3 cups water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently rinse the brown rice by lightly rubbing it with your fingertips to avoid breaking the grains. Rinse 2-3 times until the water runs clear.
Step 2
Place the rinsed brown rice in plenty of water and soak for at least 8 hours. This soaking step is crucial for making the brown rice soft and delicious. Soaking it overnight is convenient.
Step 3
Rinse the glutinous rice and regular white rice separately, making sure they don’t clump together. Rinse 2-3 times until the water runs clear, then soak for about 30 minutes. Since these will be cooked with brown rice, soaking them for too long can make the rice mushy.
Step 4
In a rice cooker or pot, combine the well-soaked brown rice with the rinsed and soaked glutinous rice and regular white rice. Mix them thoroughly with a spatula. Then, add the 3 cups of prepared water and bring to a boil over high heat.
Step 5
Once the water starts to boil vigorously, reduce the heat to medium and cook for 5 minutes. Then, lower the heat to low and cook for another 10 minutes, ensuring the rice is cooked through. After turning off the heat, cover the pot and let it steam for 10 minutes to finish. This steaming period will result in perfectly fluffy and delicious rice.
