Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing your ingredients. Slice the Korean radish thinly into bite-sized pieces, or dice it if you prefer. Slice the green onions diagonally. Ensure the frozen beef brisket is thawed. Once these steps are complete, your ingredients are ready.
Step 2
In a pot, pour in the 600ml of beef bone broth. Add 1 Tbsp of doenjang and 0.5 Tbsp of gochujang. Whisk them together until well combined and dissolved, creating a smooth, savory base for your soup.
Step 3
Once the doenjang base is smoothly dissolved in the broth, add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and all the prepared radish. Bring the soup to a boil over high heat and let it simmer until the radish begins to soften.
Step 4
After the radish has cooked slightly, stir in 0.5 Tbsp of soup soy sauce to enhance the umami flavor. Add 0.5 Tbsp of dried garlic powder to deepen the aroma. Finally, season with a pinch of black pepper (about 3 shakes) to add a subtle warmth and remove any potential gamey odors.
Step 5
Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if needed by adding a little more doenjang or soup soy sauce. Once the seasoning is perfect, bring the soup back to a gentle boil. Then, add the sliced green onions and the beef brisket. Continue to simmer just until the beef brisket is cooked through. Your delicious and hearty beef brisket and radish doenjang guk is now ready to be enjoyed with a bowl of rice!
