Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Here are all the ingredients you’ll need to make this hearty Tuna Mayo Rice Bowl! This recipe is for 2 servings.
Step 2
First, peel the small onion, wash it under cold water, and then slice it thinly as shown in the picture.
Step 3
Dice the thinly sliced onion into small, bite-sized pieces. Don’t worry if it seems like a lot; it will reduce when sautéed.
Step 4
Turn your gas stove or induction cooktop to low heat.
Step 5
Add a little cooking oil to a frying pan, then add the diced onions and sauté them until they become sweet and tender.
Step 6
Keep stir-frying! You’ll smell a wonderful aroma as they cook.
Step 7
Sauté the onions over low heat until they soften and become translucent. Be careful not to burn them.
Step 8
Transfer the well-sautéed onions to a separate bowl to cool. They looked so voluminous before cooking, but now they’re perfectly tender and a good amount.
Step 9
Now, let’s make the fluffy scrambled eggs for the Tuna Mayo Rice Bowl! Crack all 4 eggs into a large bowl.
Step 10
Whisk the eggs thoroughly with a whisk. Add a pinch of salt for seasoning and mix well. This step ensures your scrambled eggs are flavorful.
Step 11
Heat a frying pan over low heat and add a little cooking oil. Pour all the whisked egg mixture into the pan.
Step 12
After about 5 minutes, the egg mixture will start to set. As the edges begin to cook, use chopsticks to gently stir.
Step 13
Continue to stir the cooking eggs rapidly with chopsticks to create a fluffy, scrambled texture. Avoid overcooking to maintain a tender consistency.
Step 14
Keep stirring and cooking the eggs over low heat until they form soft scrambled eggs. Your delicious scrambled eggs are ready! ^^
Step 15
It’s time to prepare the star of the show: the tuna! Open the 200g can of tuna and drain the oil thoroughly. Using gloves makes this easier. Removing excess oil is key to a non-greasy, savory tuna mixture.
Step 16
To the drained tuna, add 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of sugar. The creamy mayonnaise and subtle sweetness of the sugar will create a fantastic flavor profile with the tuna.
Step 17
Mix the tuna, mayonnaise, and sugar evenly with a spatula or spoon. Your delicious tuna topping for the rice bowl is now complete!
Step 18
Thinly slice the 4 sheets of seasoned seaweed (gim) with scissors. You can also use furikake (seasoned seaweed flakes) if you prefer. This adds an extra layer of flavor.
Step 19
All preparations are finished! Nicely fill a bowl with a generous portion of warm white rice.
Step 20
Arrange the fluffy yellow scrambled eggs around the edge of the rice. Then, place the sautéed onions in a circle inside the scrambled eggs.
Step 21
Next, add the chopped green onions or scallions inside the sautéed onions, forming another circle. I used chopped green onions! Finally, generously top the rice with the prepared tuna mixture, covering the rice completely!
Step 22
Place the thinly sliced seasoned seaweed in the center of the tuna mayo mixture. Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for added nuttiness. ^^
Step 23
For the final touch, drizzle mayonnaise in a zigzag pattern for a beautiful garnish. If you put the mayonnaise in a piping bag and snip off just the tip, you can create lovely patterns!
Step 24
Voila! Your visually appealing Tuna Mayo Rice Bowl is ready! The vibrant colors make it look so appetizing, don’t you think? I’m really proud of how it turned out, even better than I imagined!
