Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the flavorful broth for our soup. In a pot, combine 650ml of water and 7 dried anchovies for broth. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes, then remove and discard the anchovies. (For more detailed broth-making instructions, please refer to [here>>@6935857].)
Step 2
While the broth is simmering, get your frozen dumplings ready. You can add them directly to the soup without thawing.
Step 3
Cut the flat fish cake into bite-sized pieces, similar in size to the dumplings, or into manageable portions. This will make it easy to cook them together.
Step 4
In a small bowl, whisk the egg until well beaten. Thinly slice the green onions, using both the white and green parts. These will add a fresh aroma and flavor to the soup.
Step 5
Now, add the prepared dumplings and sliced fish cake to the boiling broth. Season the soup to your liking with salt. A pinch of black pepper will further enhance the overall flavor profile.
Step 6
Once the dumplings and fish cake are partially cooked, add the sliced green onions and let the soup simmer for another moment. This allows the refreshing onion flavor to infuse into the broth.
Step 7
Finally, gently drizzle the beaten egg in a circular motion over the simmering soup. Allow the egg to cook and form delicate ribbons.
Step 8
Reduce the heat to low. Once the egg is fully cooked and the soup has slightly thickened, turn off the heat. Your comforting Fish Cake and Dumpling Soup is ready! For an extra touch of flavor, you can add 2-3 drops of sesame oil or sprinkle some dried seaweed flakes on top, according to your preference.
