Wholesome Homemade Misutgaru Microwave Cake
Craft your own delightful Misutgaru (roasted grain powder) cake with this easy recipe inspired by Lee Jung-hyun from the TV show ‘Pyeonstorang’. This recipe offers a healthy treat that’s ready in just 8 minutes in the microwave. Enjoy a soft, subtly sweet, and nutritious cake perfect for a quick snack or a light dessert.
Ingredients- 1 cup Misutgaru (roasted grain powder, approx. 70g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (200ml)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Olive oil (or vegetable oil) for greasing
- Blueberries (for garnish, optional)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of milk and 2 eggs. Whisk them together until well combined and smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
Step 2
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds until just softened. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the melted butter and stir until mixed. Pour this mixture into the milk and egg mixture and whisk thoroughly.
Step 3
Prepare 1 cup of Misutgaru (roasted grain powder). To ensure a smooth batter texture, sift the Misutgaru through a fine-mesh sieve into the bowl. This step is crucial for preventing lumps and achieving a tender cake.
Step 4
Add the sifted Misutgaru to the wet ingredients. Using a whisk or spatula, mix everything together until a smooth batter forms, making sure there are no lumps. Continue mixing until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Step 5
Lightly grease a microwave-safe cake mold or container with olive oil or vegetable oil. This will help the cake release easily after baking.
Step 6
Pour the prepared batter into the greased container. Gently spread the top of the batter evenly using a spatula or the back of a spoon, creating a flat surface.
Step 7
Tap the container gently on your work surface 2-3 times. This helps to release any large air bubbles trapped in the batter, resulting in a smoother cake texture. Place the container in the microwave without a lid and cook on high for approximately 8 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage.
Step 8
To check if the cake is done, insert a skewer or toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean with no batter attached, the cake is fully cooked. If there is still wet batter, microwave for an additional 1-2 minutes and check again.
Step 9
Carefully remove the cooked cake from the microwave and invert it onto a serving plate. Once slightly cooled, dust the top generously with powdered sugar using a sieve for a beautiful finish.
Step 10
Optionally, garnish your Misutgaru cake with fresh blueberries or other favorite fruits, or drizzle with a fruit syrup. Enjoy this simple yet satisfyingly healthy and delicious homemade cake!
