Easy Recipe for Making Natural Ginger Ale at Home

Healthy Homemade Ginger Ale

Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make a delicious ginger ale using ginger, a wonderful ingredient for our health. Gingerol, a key compound in ginger, boasts potent antibacterial and antiviral properties, helping to ward off external viruses and bacteria while boosting your immune system, making it excellent for cold prevention. The ancient Korean medical text ‘Dongui Bogam’ even records ginger’s benefits: ‘It enters the five organs, dissolves phlegm, raises qi, and stops vomiting. It eliminates wind, cold, and dampness, and treats shortness of breath, cough, diarrhea, and dysentery.’ Let’s craft this refreshing and zesty ginger ale together!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp pure ginger juice (store-bought)
  • 350ml sparkling water
  • 1 Tbsp honey (adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your store-bought pure ginger juice. It’s best to choose a product that is just the concentrated juice without added sugars or artificial ingredients.

Step 1

Step 2

Using a tablespoon, carefully measure out 2 tablespoons of the pure ginger juice. Using a tablespoon ensures a more consistent measurement than a general spoon.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s get the sparkling water ready. Pour 350ml of chilled sparkling water into the glass or bottle where you’ll be serving the ginger ale. Using water straight from the refrigerator will make your drink extra refreshing.

Step 3

Step 4

Gently pour the 2 tablespoons of ginger juice you measured earlier into the sparkling water.

Step 4

Step 5

You’ll notice the color of the ginger juice naturally infusing into the sparkling water. You’ll also start to smell the rich aroma of ginger.

Step 5

Step 6

Using a spatula or a long spoon, gently stir the mixture to combine the ginger juice and sparkling water. Stir slowly to avoid losing the carbonation.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, add 1 tablespoon of honey to sweeten the drink. Convenient stick-form honey packets are widely available and very easy to use. Feel free to adjust the amount of honey based on your preference and the spiciness of the ginger.

Step 7

Step 8

Stir gently again until the honey is dissolved. If you’re making this during summer or prefer an extra-cold drink, add ice cubes at this stage. Since we used chilled sparkling water, you might not even need ice!

Step 8

Step 9

Voila! Your healthy and delicious homemade ginger ale is ready. The subtle ginger flavor combined with the zesty fizz of the sparkling water creates a wonderfully invigorating taste. Your family will love this less sweet, healthier option. This is a highly recommended recipe that’s so easy to make at home!
