Super Simple Late-Night Snack & Solo Meal: The Golden Recipe for Ramen Fried Rice
Transform leftover ramen noodles and rice into a fantastic meal! I’ll show you in detail how to make ramen fried rice with a wonderfully chewy ramen texture. This recipe is so easy, even students living alone or beginner cooks can follow along!
Essential Ingredients
- 1 packet Ramen (any kind)
- 1/2 bowl Rice
- 2 strips Bacon
- 1 Egg
- 1/6 Onion
- A portion of Carrot
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper (optional, for extra spice)
- 3 Tbsp Cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Without opening the ramen packet, roughly break the noodles inside the bag using your hands or the back of a knife. This helps the noodles retain a chewy texture when cooked.
Step 2
Place the broken ramen noodles into boiling water and cook for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them, as they might clump together when stir-frying! Drain the cooked noodles thoroughly in a colander.
Step 3
While the ramen is cooking, it’s time to prepare the ingredients that will add flavor to your fried rice. Wash and finely chop the onion, carrot, and cheongyang chili pepper. The chili pepper is recommended if you enjoy a spicy kick!
Step 4
Cut the bacon into similar-sized pieces, about 1-1.5 cm in length. You can also use ham or sausage instead of bacon. Adjust the amount of vegetables and bacon to your preference.
Step 5
Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan. Add the chopped bacon, onion, carrot, and chili pepper, and stir-fry over medium-low heat until lightly cooked and the vegetables are slightly softened. Sauté until the bacon releases some of its fat.
Step 6
Push the sautéed ingredients to one side of the pan to create space. Crack the egg into the empty space and scramble it. Once the egg is cooked into soft curds, mix it thoroughly with the other ingredients.
Step 7
Now it’s time to add the star ingredients for the fried rice: the cooked ramen noodles and the ramen seasoning packet. The seasoning packet is key to seasoning the entire fried rice, so don’t forget it! (Adjust amount to your taste).
Step 8
Mix everything together with the rice and stir-fry well, just like you would with regular fried rice. Keep stirring quickly with a spatula to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan, ensuring those delicious crispy noodles!
Step 9
Just before turning off the heat, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, a pinch of black pepper, and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for the perfect finishing touch. Adding sesame oil after turning off the heat preserves its aroma.
Step 10
To serve your ramen fried rice beautifully, pack it tightly into a bowl or cup. Then, invert it onto a plate like a mold. Enjoy your impressive and delicious ramen fried rice!
