Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, line a frying pan with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and makes it easy to remove the Dalgona later. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar evenly onto the parchment paper.
Step 2
Place the frying pan over low heat and let the sugar melt slowly. The key is heat control; high heat will cause the sugar to burn quickly, so low and slow is essential. Use chopsticks to stir continuously, ensuring the sugar melts evenly without clumping.
Step 3
Once the sugar has completely melted into a clear liquid and starts to turn a light golden-brown color, add 0.5 teaspoon of baking soda. Baking soda helps the Dalgona puff up and adds its characteristic flavor. Stir quickly with chopsticks immediately after adding it to combine.
Step 4
You’ll see the Dalgona mixture, now combined with baking soda, turn opaque brown and begin to puff up. As soon as it’s nicely puffed, remove the pan from the heat. Be careful not to overcook it, as it can burn.
Step 5
Carefully slide the parchment paper with the Dalgona off the frying pan onto a flat, heat-resistant surface to cool. Be cautious as it will be hot.
Step 6
Once the Dalgona has completely cooled and hardened, peel it off the parchment paper. Break the hardened Dalgona into bite-sized pieces with your hands or a knife.
Step 7
Now, let’s make the Dalgona Latte. Pour your desired amount of cold milk into a glass. You can also use warm milk if you prefer.
Step 8
Next, add about two-thirds of your prepared Dalgona pieces on top of the milk in the glass. The Dalgona will slowly dissolve, adding a delightful sweetness to the latte.
Step 9
And there you have it! Your flavorful, nostalgic Dalgona and a sweet, creamy Dalgona Latte are ready. Enjoy!
