Savory Stir-Fried Beef Ingredients- 200g Ground Beef (lean cuts recommended)
- 1 Cheongyang Pepper (adjust to your spice preference)
- 3 Tbsp Minced Scallion (green and white parts)
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Tbsp Cooking Sake (or Mirin)
- 1/2 Tbsp Honey (or Corn Syrup)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Basic Inari Sushi Ingredients- 12-13 sheets of Store-bought Fried Tofu Pouches (for Inari Sushi)
- 1 bowl of Cooked Rice (approx. 200g)
- A pinch of Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar (or the seasoned vinegar from an Inari sushi kit)
- 12-13 sheets of Store-bought Fried Tofu Pouches (for Inari Sushi)
- 1 bowl of Cooked Rice (approx. 200g)
- A pinch of Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar (or the seasoned vinegar from an Inari sushi kit)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl of warm cooked rice (about 1 cup), mix in 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar and a pinch of sesame seeds for seasoning. Alternatively, if you are using a store-bought Inari sushi kit, you can use the seasoned vinegar and crispy bits provided. Be careful not to make the rice too mushy.
Step 2
Finely mince the scallion. This will add a fragrant aroma and depth of flavor to the beef topping. Using both the white and green parts is recommended.
Step 3
Finely mince the Cheongyang pepper. Remove the seeds before mincing to control the spiciness. You can adjust the amount or omit it entirely if you prefer less heat. This will be stir-fried together with the scallions.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat with a little cooking oil. Add the 200g of ground beef and stir-fry until it’s no longer pink. Then, add 3 tablespoons of minced scallion, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1/2 tablespoon of cooking sake, 1/2 tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry together until fragrant. Next, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and continue to cook until the sauce is well absorbed by the meat. Finally, add the minced Cheongyang pepper and stir-fry for another minute. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and set aside. This creates your delicious beef topping.
Step 5
Gently squeeze out any excess liquid from the store-bought fried tofu pouches. Carefully fill each pouch with the seasoned rice, pressing it gently to fill the corners. Avoid overfilling with rice, as you need space for the topping. Leave a small gap at the top so the topping can be placed nicely.
Step 6
Finally, generously top each filled inari sushi with the prepared savory stir-fried beef mixture from Step 3. Your beautifully crafted Gourmet Inari Sushi is now complete! Arrange them on a platter for a delightful picnic or lunchbox meal.
