- A generous amount of Fresh Salad Greens
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 4 Patties Store-bought Hamburger Steak
Special Sauce Ingredients- 15g Butter (approx. 1 Tbsp)
- 1/2 Onion (finely minced)
- 3 Button Mushrooms (thinly sliced)
- 4 Tbsp Hayashi Rice Roux Powder (or curry roux)
- 4 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Steak Sauce
- 1 tsp Sugar
- A pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 cup (200ml) Water
- 15g Butter (approx. 1 Tbsp)
- 1/2 Onion (finely minced)
- 3 Button Mushrooms (thinly sliced)
- 4 Tbsp Hayashi Rice Roux Powder (or curry roux)
- 4 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Steak Sauce
- 1 tsp Sugar
- A pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 cup (200ml) Water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start with the sauce! Melt the butter (15g) in a medium-low heat pan. Once it’s fragrant and fully melted, your base for the delicious sauce is ready.
Step 2
Add the minced onion and sliced button mushrooms to the melted butter. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the mushrooms soften, releasing their aromatic flavors. This step builds a wonderful depth of flavor for the sauce.
Step 3
To the sautéed vegetables, add 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp steak sauce, 4 Tbsp tomato ketchup, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, pour 1 cup (200ml) of water and whisk in 4 Tbsp of Hayashi rice roux powder until completely smooth. Dissolving it first prevents lumps and ensures a silky sauce.
Step 5
Pour the dissolved Hayashi mixture into the pan with the sautéed vegetables and ketchup mixture. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Continuous stirring is key to prevent scorching.
Step 6
Now, let’s cook the hamburger steaks! Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the 4 store-bought hamburger steak patties in the pan and cook until nicely browned and cooked through on both sides.
Step 7
Fill two bowls with warm rice. Arrange the cooked hamburger steaks attractively on top of the rice. Generously spoon the warm, flavorful special sauce you just made over the steaks.
Step 8
Add a portion of fresh, crisp salad greens on the side of the hamburger steak. This adds a refreshing contrast in color and texture.
Step 9
Finally, top the hamburger steak with a perfectly fried egg, ensuring the yolk is still slightly runny. Just before eating, break the yolk and mix it with the rice, sauce, and steak for an incredibly rich and delicious experience. Enjoy your meal!
