  • 1/2 Onion (finely minced)
  • 3 Button Mushrooms (thinly sliced)
  • 4 Tbsp Hayashi Rice Roux Powder (or curry roux)
  • 4 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Steak Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • A pinch of Black Pepper
  • 1 cup (200ml) Water

Cooking Instructions

Let’s start with the sauce! Melt the butter (15g) in a medium-low heat pan. Once it’s fragrant and fully melted, your base for the delicious sauce is ready.

Add the minced onion and sliced button mushrooms to the melted butter. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the mushrooms soften, releasing their aromatic flavors. This step builds a wonderful depth of flavor for the sauce.

To the sautéed vegetables, add 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp steak sauce, 4 Tbsp tomato ketchup, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.

In a separate bowl, pour 1 cup (200ml) of water and whisk in 4 Tbsp of Hayashi rice roux powder until completely smooth. Dissolving it first prevents lumps and ensures a silky sauce.
