Gourmet Cheesy Tteokgalbi Steak
Bread Recipe / Brunch Delight: Cheesy Tteokgalbi Steak
I created this delightful brunch using leftover store-bought tteokgalbi and bread slices from my refrigerator. It’s a perfect, satisfying meal replacement.
Main Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 1 slice of cheese
- 1 piece of pre-made tteokgalbi
- Parsley flakes (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
While the sauce is simmering, gently warm the bread slices in the microwave. To make the sauce: In a pan, melt 1 Tbsp of butter (or margarine) over medium-low heat and whisk in 2 Tbsp of flour to create a roux. Cook for about a minute, stirring constantly, until lightly golden.
Step 2
Pour in 3 Tbsp of red wine and stir. As it heats up, the alcohol will evaporate, leaving behind its rich color and flavor. If you prefer an even more intense taste and deeper hue, feel free to add an extra 2 Tbsp of red wine.
Step 3
Gradually whisk in 8 Tbsp of beef broth (or water). Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to a smooth, luscious consistency.
Step 4
Finally, stir in 1 Tbsp of steak sauce. Mix well to combine and adjust seasoning to your liking. This adds a perfect savory balance.
Step 5
Since the store-bought tteokgalbi is quite thick, we’ll slice it in half after cooking. You can use an air fryer for convenience, or pan-fry it on low heat with a lid on to ensure it cooks through evenly and stays moist. I chose to pan-fry mine gently with a lid.
Step 6
Once the bread slices are warmed, cut them to match the shape of your tteokgalbi. Place one half of the cooked tteokgalbi onto each prepared bread slice.
Step 7
Layer a slice of cheese on top of each piece of tteokgalbi. The melting cheese will add a delightful creaminess and bind the ingredients together.
Step 8
Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, and then add the remaining half of the tteokgalbi on top of that.
Step 9
Generously spoon the prepared steak sauce over the top of the assembled tteokgalbi. Straining the sauce through a sieve before serving makes it exceptionally smooth and elevates the presentation.
Step 10
And there you have it – a delicious Cheesy Tteokgalbi Steak, perfect for a satisfying meal! Enjoy this delightful brunch, perhaps with a warm cup of coffee.
