Gentle Cabbage Puree for Baby
Stage 1 Early Baby Food: Easy-to-Digest Cabbage Puree Recipe
Introducing Stage 1 early baby food: Cabbage Puree, designed to aid your baby’s digestion and boost their immunity. Cabbage is rich in dietary fiber, making it excellent for preventing constipation in babies, and it helps strengthen both the stomach and intestines. This nutrient-packed puree is especially recommended for babies experiencing constipation as they begin solid foods.
Main Ingredients- Rice: 12g
- Fresh Cabbage: 10g
- Filtered Water: 250ml
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare 12g of rice. Rinse the rice thoroughly several times under running water, then soak it for 3-4 hours to soften. Soaking the rice makes the puree smoother.
Step 2
Prepare 10g of fresh cabbage. Use only the leafy parts, so carefully trim and discard the tough stem portion with a knife.
Step 3
Place the prepared cabbage in a steamer basket. Steam over high heat for about 5 minutes until it becomes tender. Steaming enhances the cabbage’s natural sweetness and aids digestion.
Step 4
Add 100ml of water to the well-soaked rice, and combine it with the steamed cabbage.
Step 5
Using a blender or a baby food grinder, puree the rice and cabbage until very smooth. Ensure there are no lumps.
Step 6
Transfer the finely pureed mixture to a pot. Add the remaining 150ml of water, bringing the total liquid to 250ml.
Step 7
Place the pot over medium-low heat. Stir continuously to prevent sticking to the bottom. Cook until the puree turns slightly transparent from its cloudy color and the rice grains are fully broken down, creating a slightly sticky consistency. (Approximately 5-7 minutes).
Step 8
Strain the cooked puree through a fine-mesh sieve. Ensure all smooth liquid passes through, then let it cool down to a baby-friendly temperature.
Step 9
Portion the cooled cabbage puree into baby food containers, about 50ml each. This makes convenient storage for your baby’s meals.
Step 10
Your delicious Cabbage Puree is ready! It’s packed with fiber to help prevent baby constipation. The subtle cabbage aroma and slight sweetness made it a hit with my baby, who ate it without fuss! I plan to make this often. 🙂
