Introducing a recipe for a soft and delicious beef and vegetable rice bowl, perfect for babies. Use nutrient-rich ingredients to create a tasty meal that supports your baby’s healthy growth.
Main Ingredients
- 100g Steamed White Rice (warmed)
- 30g Ground Beef (use a lean cut)
- 25g Onion (minced very finely)
- 5g Carrot (minced very finely)
- 5g Scallion (white part only, minced very finely)
- 100ml Water
- 0.3 Tbsp Cooking Oil (use sparingly)
- 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp Water (for cornstarch slurry)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce (use baby-friendly or low-sodium soy sauce)
- 0.5 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (for sweetness adjustment, optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin cooking, measure and prepare all the necessary ingredients. Mince the onion, carrot, and scallion very finely or julienne them into small strips, making them easy for your baby to eat. Finely minced vegetables are easier for babies to chew.
Step 2
Lightly grease a heated pan with a very small amount of cooking oil (0.3 Tbsp). It’s best to minimize oil in baby food.
Step 3
Add all 30g of ground beef to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat until the pink color disappears, breaking up any clumps. Cook quickly.
Step 4
Once the beef is partially cooked, add the finely minced onion, carrot, and scallion. Continue to stir-fry together for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables become tender and translucent. Stir-frying well helps to bring out the natural sweetness of the vegetables.
Step 5
Now, let’s prepare the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. In a small bowl, mix 1 Tbsp of cornstarch with 2 Tbsp of water. Stir until completely smooth, ensuring there are no lumps.
Step 6
When the beef and vegetables are cooked, pour 100ml of water into the pan. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low.
Step 7
Add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce to the pan. For baby food, we recommend using low-sodium or baby-specific soy sauce. This adds flavor and umami.
Step 8
If you’d like a touch of sweetness, add 0.5 Tbsp of oligosaccharide. Oligosaccharide provides a mild sweetness that can enhance your baby’s appetite. (You can omit this if you prefer no added sweetness or are avoiding sugars for your baby.)
Step 9
Once the sauce is simmering, gradually pour in the prepared cornstarch slurry while stirring continuously. Keep stirring to prevent sticking to the bottom. Cook until the sauce reaches your desired thickness. It should become glossy and thickened, creating a delicious rice bowl sauce.
Step 10
Your delicious beef and vegetable rice bowl sauce is ready, with the perfect consistency. It should be smooth and glossy, like a typical rice bowl topping.
Step 11
Place 100g of warm steamed white rice in a bowl. Generously spoon the prepared beef and vegetable sauce over the rice. You can cut the ingredients into small, bite-sized pieces for your baby, or mix the sauce and rice together for an even tastier meal. Your nutritious baby beef rice bowl is complete!
