  • 14 cloves Garlic, peeled (adjust to your preference)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (use less if using ‘Guk-ganjang’ or Korean soup soy sauce)
  • 3 Tbsp Plum Extract (adds sweetness and shine)
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds (for nutty aroma)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the shredded dried squid. Take it out of the bag and gently loosen any clumps.

If the shredded squid is too long, cut it into 2-3 bite-sized pieces. Cutting it to about the length of a child’s finger makes it easier for everyone to enjoy.

Thinly slice the 14 peeled garlic cloves into slivers. You can adjust the amount of garlic based on the squid and your personal taste. Slicing them thinly prevents burning and ensures they cook to a tender consistency.

Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over low heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté slowly. Cook until you start to smell the fragrant garlic aroma. It’s crucial to manage the heat to prevent the garlic from burning.

Once the garlic is lightly golden and fragrant, add 2 Tbsp of soy sauce and 3 Tbsp of plum extract. Stir-fry together, allowing the seasoning to coat the garlic evenly. The goal is to have the seasoning coat the garlic slices like a glaze.

When the seasoning has nicely combined with the garlic, add the prepared shredded dried squid to the pan. Keep the heat at medium-low.
