Easy Garlic Bacon Fried Rice Recipe Perfect for Solo Living – Guaranteed Delicious!

Garlic Bacon Fried Rice

It’s funny how I rarely made fried rice when I lived alone, but now that I’m living with my parents, I find myself making it more often! Even though I live with them, my parents both work, so our schedules often don’t align, making it hard to share meals. Today, my parents are at work, and I have the house to myself. On days like these, I usually eat the side dishes my mom prepared or make fried rice. Today, I opted for fried rice. I noticed some bacon in the freezer whose expiration date was questionable, so I decided to use it up quickly by making garlic bacon fried rice. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of bacon, but I’ll eat it if it’s there. My mom, however, enjoys it and often grills it as a snack. So, that forgotten bacon in the freezer, despite my uncertainty about its expiry, became the star of my meal. I wonder if my mom will look for it later? If she does, I suppose I’ll have to buy her some. Now, let me share with you how to make this delicious garlic bacon fried rice!

Main Ingredients

  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 5 strips bacon
  • 15 cm (approx. 6 inches) green onion (scallion)
  • 1 bowl warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Peel the garlic cloves and thinly slice them into about 0.3 cm (1/8 inch) thick pieces. This step is crucial for infusing the fragrant garlic flavor throughout the fried rice.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the green onion (scallion) and finely chop it into pieces about 0.3 cm (1/8 inch) thick. This will enhance the onion’s aroma. Use both the white and green parts.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces, about 1 cm (3/8 inch) wide. This size ensures even cooking and easy mixing with the rice.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add 2 Tbsp of cooking oil. Add the sliced garlic and chopped green onion. Stir-fry them gently until they release a subtle aroma, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 4

Step 5

Once you can smell the fragrant garlic and green onion, add the cut bacon to the pan. Continue to stir-fry everything together. The bacon will render its fat, adding a rich flavor to the dish.

Step 5

Step 6

When the bacon is nicely browned and looks appetizing, add 1 bowl of warm cooked rice and 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce. The oyster sauce will add a savory depth of flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Using a spatula, break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry until the rice, bacon, garlic, green onion, and oyster sauce are well combined. Make sure every grain of rice is coated with the flavorful mixture.

Step 7

Step 8

Once all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed and the rice looks fluffy, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Finish by sprinkling 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds over the top. Your delicious Garlic Bacon Fried Rice is now ready to be enjoyed!
