Ingredients

  • 6 mild green peppers
  • 6 rice cakes (tteok)
  • 3 strips of bacon
  • 2 bamboo skewers

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s soften the rice cakes. Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the rice cakes for about 1 minute, or until they become pliable. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become too mushy.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare the green peppers by slicing them in half lengthwise and carefully removing the seeds. This ensures a mild and clean flavor. Cut each strip of bacon in half.

Step 2

Step 3

Quickly rinse the blanched rice cakes under cold water to cool them, then gently pat them dry. Now, carefully stuff the softened rice cakes into the cavities of the prepared green peppers. For the best presentation and ease of eating, try to match the size of the rice cakes to the peppers.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the rice cakes are nestled inside the peppers, wrap a piece of bacon around each stuffed pepper. The bacon will help hold everything together as it cooks.

Step 4

Step 5

After you’ve assembled all the stuffed peppers, thread two of them onto each bamboo skewer. This makes them easier to handle during cooking and serving.

Step 5

Step 6

Now it’s time to grill them to perfection! Preheat a frying pan over medium-low heat for about 30 seconds. Place the skewers in the pan and cook for about 2 minutes, until the bacon begins to crisp. Flip the skewers and reduce the heat to low, cooking for another 2 minutes. This process will yield a delicious Futtuk Futtuk that’s slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
