Key Ingredients

  • Leftover stir-fried carrots (from kal-guksu garnish)
  • Leftover stir-fried zucchini (from kal-guksu garnish)
  • Leftover egg garnish (from kal-guksu)
  • Leftover sweet clam meat
  • Leftover grilled sirloin steak
  • Warm cooked rice
  • Store-bought Inari Sushi Kit (includes rice seasoning and vinegar)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the leftover kal-guksu garnishes (stir-fried carrots, stir-fried zucchini, egg garnish), any remaining grilled sirloin steak, and the sweet clam meat from your refrigerator. Since these ingredients are already cooked, place them in a non-stick pan over low heat without adding any oil. Stir-fry them gently to evaporate any excess moisture. This process preserves the original flavors while removing unnecessary grease. Allow the stir-fried ingredients to cool slightly.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare warm cooked rice. If you stir-fry the rice together with the other ingredients, the oil released from them might cause the rice to clump or become greasy. Additionally, the stir-fried ingredients alone may not provide enough oil to achieve a fluffy texture for the rice. Therefore, we will not be stir-frying the rice itself, but rather mixing it with the prepared stir-fried ingredients.

Step 2

Step 3

Take out the rice seasoning and vinegar sauce included in the store-bought inari sushi kit. Add both packets to the warm rice. Gently mix the rice and sauces using a spatula or spoon. It’s important to mix softly to avoid mashing the rice grains. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the rice.

Step 3

Step 4

Gently squeeze out excess liquid from the prepared fried tofu pouches (inari). Be careful not to squeeze too hard, as this could tear the pouches. The seasoned rice will be stuffed into these pouches. The seasoning from the stir-fried ingredients and the sauce packets should be sufficient, so no additional salt is needed.

Step 4

Step 5

Fill the squeezed inari pouches generously with the seasoned rice. Press the rice down firmly with a spoon or your fingers to create a neat and appealing shape. Your ‘Fridge Clean-Out’ Inari Sushi, made with leftover garnishes, meat, and clam meat, is now complete! It’s incredibly satisfying to transform ingredients that might otherwise be wasted into such a delicious dish. Enjoy this unique twist on a classic, made entirely from your pantry’s hidden treasures!
