Easy Recipe for Delicious Seafood Shabu-Shabu
Enjoy a hearty and delicious shabu-shabu at home with fresh seafood! This recipe allows you to easily create a delightful meal with a variety of seafood and crisp vegetables, making for a healthy and elegant dining experience.
Main Ingredients- Assorted fresh seafood (e.g., shrimp, clams, squid)
- 1 head of napa cabbage
- Assorted mushrooms (e.g., shiitake, oyster, enoki)
- 300g baby bok choy
Broth & Seasoning- 150ml Dashima stock (or store-bought broth)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large pot, add plenty of water and anchovies to create a savory and clear broth. Making anchovy broth will significantly deepen the flavor of your shabu-shabu soup.
Step 2
If the anchovy broth needs more depth, add about 150ml of Dashima stock or store-bought broth to enrich the soup’s flavor.
Step 3
Rinse the assorted seafood, such as shrimp, clams, and squid, gently with coarse salt. This process removes any impurities and ensures a cleaner taste.
Step 4
Cut the napa cabbage into bite-sized pieces and wash the baby bok choy thoroughly. Our family enjoys a generous amount of crisp vegetables, so we prepared extra. Fresh vegetables enhance the shabu-shabu’s overall flavor.

Prepare the assorted mushrooms by cleaning and trimming them. Mushrooms add a subtle aroma and a pleasant chewy texture to the broth.

For the dipping sauce, we’ve chosen a store-bought chili sauce, which we find complements the seafood and vegetables beautifully. After trying various sauces, the sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy profile of chili sauce pairs exceptionally well.

Once the broth comes to a rolling boil, add the prepared seafood, vegetables, and mushrooms. It’s best to add them in stages, considering their cooking times, to ensure everything is perfectly cooked.
