Salad Ingredients

  • 1/2 head of fresh lettuce
  • 6 strips of thick-cut bacon
  • A small amount of white onion (to remove pungent flavor)

Tangy Yogurt Dressing

  • 1 container (85g) plain yogurt
  • 1/3 yogurt cup of milk
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

First, to mellow out the sharp pungency of the onion, soak it in cold water for about 30 minutes before you start cooking. This will make the onion taste sweeter and crisper when added to the salad.

Properly preparing the lettuce is key. Hold the head with the base facing down and gently tap it on your cutting board 2-3 times. This will help the base separate cleanly. Separate the leaves of your 1/2 head of lettuce, rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris, and then drain them well in a colander. Ensuring the lettuce is well-drained prevents the salad from becoming watery.

Prepare your 85g container of plain yogurt. The yogurt’s natural tanginess will form the base of your dressing. Pour the entire container of yogurt into a clean bowl.

Using the yogurt container, measure out about 1/3 cup of milk and add it to the bowl. Then, add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise for creaminess, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice for brightness, and a pinch of salt and pepper to balance the flavors. Whisk everything together until you achieve a smooth, creamy dressing. Make sure it’s well combined for a delightful texture.

Take your 6 strips of thick-cut bacon and chop them into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm wide). Place the chopped bacon in a dry, preheated pan over medium-low heat.
