Ingredients
- 6 ripe tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Select 6 fresh, ripe tomatoes and wash them thoroughly. Using seasonal tomatoes will enhance the depth of flavor.
Step 2
Carefully cut out the core from each tomato using a knife. This step helps remove any bitterness and ensures a smoother texture.
Step 3
Make a shallow cross (X) incision on the bottom, rounded part of each tomato. This scoring will make peeling the tomatoes much easier later on.
Step 4
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, gently add the prepared tomatoes.
Step 5
Gently rotate the tomatoes in the boiling water so they tumble around. This ensures even heating, which helps loosen the skins.
Step 6
Blanch the tomatoes in the boiling water for about 1 to 2 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become too soft. Timing is key here.
Step 7
After blanching, immediately transfer the tomatoes to cold water to stop the cooking process. Then, from the scored cross on the bottom, gently peel the skins away. The skins should slip off smoothly.
Step 8
Once all the skins have been neatly removed from the tomatoes, they are ready for the next step. Enjoy the smooth texture of the peeled tomatoes.
Step 9
Cut the peeled tomatoes into manageable pieces, suitable for blending. You can cut them into bite-sized pieces or simply ensure they are small enough for your blender blades to work effectively. You can remove the seeds if you prefer, or blend them along with the pulp.
Step 10
Place the prepared tomato pieces into your blender. You can already smell the fresh aroma of tomatoes!
Step 11
Add 2 tablespoons of honey to enhance the natural sweetness of the tomatoes. You can adjust the amount of honey to your preference, or use sugar or another sweetener.
Step 12
Secure the lid on the blender and blend for about 1 to 1.5 minutes, or until the tomatoes are very smooth and finely pureed. Aim for a silky, lump-free consistency.
Step 13
Pour the freshly blended tomato juice into a clean, clear glass. Fill it up and enjoy your refreshing drink!
Step 14
Transfer any remaining tomato juice into a clean, airtight container or bottle. If you’re not drinking it immediately, refrigerate it to enjoy chilled. It’s best consumed within 2-3 days.
