Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 10 slices of ham
  • Several lettuce leaves
  • 5 slices of tomato
  • 1 handful of sprouts (approx. 30g)

Tangy Greek Yogurt Dressing

  • 1 Tablespoon Greek yogurt (approx. 15g)
  • 1 Teaspoon whole grain mustard (approx. 5g)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon olive oil (approx. 7ml)
  • 1 Teaspoon yuzu marmalade (approx. 5g)
  • 1 Teaspoon honey (approx. 5g)
  • 1 Pinch of chili flakes (optional, adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently blanch the ham slices by dipping them in boiling water. This helps to reduce their saltiness and makes them more tender. Lightly pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the sprouts and thoroughly pat them dry to remove excess moisture. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, whole grain mustard, olive oil, yuzu marmalade, and honey. Whisk together until smooth. If you like a little heat, stir in the chili flakes. Add the sprouts to the dressing and toss gently to coat.

Step 2

Step 3

Rinse the tomato slices under running water and pat them dry. Wash the lettuce leaves and shake off any excess water. Ensuring your vegetables are dry is key to preventing a soggy sandwich.

Step 3

Step 4

Lightly drizzle olive oil onto one side of each bread slice and toast them in a pan until golden brown. This adds a delightful crispness. Spread a generous layer of Greek yogurt onto the untoasted side of one bread slice. For an extra kick, you can add a bit more whole grain mustard. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of chili flakes for added flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

On the bread with the Greek yogurt spread, layer the dressing-coated sprouts generously. Place the other slice of bread on top, then add the fresh lettuce leaves, layering them evenly. Building your sandwich layer by layer is part of the fun!

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, arrange the tomato slices attractively on top of the lettuce. The juicy tomatoes will add a wonderful moistness and flavor to your sandwich.

Step 6

Step 7

To keep everything neat and tidy, wrap the sandwich tightly with plastic wrap. This also helps the ingredients meld together. Let it sit for a moment to allow the flavors to mingle.

Step 7

Step 8

Now, it’s time to slice your sandwich in half. Using a serrated knife (like a bread knife) will give you a clean cut without squishing the bread. (You can also use the back of a regular knife.) Doesn’t it look absolutely appetizing? Paired with a warm cup of coffee, this makes for a perfect brunch! Enjoy your delicious creation!
