Fragrant Spring Vegetable Namul: Nasturtium Salad Recipe
How to Make Nasturtium Salad: A Recipe for Seasonal Spring Greens (Great as a Side Dish)
Let’s make Nasturtium Salad, a herald of spring, bursting with fresh flavor.
Main Ingredients
- Fresh Nasturtium (Naengi) 300g
- Scallion 1 handful (approx. 1/4 stalk)
- Minced Garlic, a pinch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s make a delicious Nasturtium salad, full of spring’s fragrance! The slightly pungent taste and aroma of fresh nasturtium will awaken your appetite.
Step 2
After cleaning the nasturtium, blanch it in boiling water with a little salt for just 15-30 seconds. It’s crucial to maintain the crisp texture of the nasturtium.
Step 3
Be careful not to over-blanch, as it can make the nasturtium mushy. Immediately rinse the blanched nasturtium under cold water to stop the cooking process. Then, gently squeeze out as much water as possible with your hands. Removing excess moisture is a key step for a great-tasting salad.
Step 4
To the drained nasturtium, add the seasoning ingredients (Gochujang 1 Tbsp, Gochugaru 1 tsp, Soy Sauce 1 tsp, Sesame Oil 1 tsp, Sugar 1/2 tsp, minced garlic) and the finely chopped scallion. Sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top. Gently toss the ingredients together with your hands, as if you’re ‘shaking’ them, to evenly distribute the seasoning. Avoid mashing the nasturtium too hard.
Step 5
And there you have it – a delicious Nasturtium salad is ready! It’s a perfect side dish for rice and a wonderful delicacy when you lack appetite. Enjoy your meal!
