You can make simple yet delicious fritters using perilla leaves and crab sticks, common ingredients at home.   • 8 crab sticks
  • 2 eggs

First, prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Crack the 2 eggs into a bowl and beat them gently with a fork or whisk to make an egg wash. Wash the perilla leaves thoroughly and then pat them dry with paper towels. Peel the packaging off the crab sticks.

Lay out the washed perilla leaves one by one on a cutting board. Placing them with the inner side facing up will make it easier to place the crab sticks.

Coat the peeled crab sticks evenly on all sides with flour. This flour coating helps the egg wash adhere better and makes the fritters crispier.

Place the floured crab stick in the center of a perilla leaf, with the inner side facing up.

Now, roll the perilla leaf around the crab stick to enclose it completely. You can trim the tough stem of the perilla leaf for a neater roll. Ensure the perilla leaf fully wraps the crab stick.

Dip the rolled perilla leaf and crab stick into the prepared egg wash, coating both sides thoroughly. Gently dip and lift to ensure it’s fully covered in egg.

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Carefully place the egg-coated perilla crab sticks into the hot oil. Fry them until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side, ensuring they are cooked through.
