Tea Ingredients

  • 1 handful of clean, washed onion peels (using fresh organic onion peels is recommended)
  • 1/2 fresh orange

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash and prepare the outer peels of one onion. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris attached to the root part as well. Place the washed onion peels and roots into a pot or kettle.

Step 1

Step 2

Pour 3 cups (approximately 600ml) of water into the pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavor, aroma, and nutrients of the onion peels to infuse into the water.

Step 2

Step 3

Turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let it steep for about 5 minutes. This steeping process allows the components of the onion peels to fully dissolve into the water, resulting in a richer and more flavorful onion peel tea.

Step 3

Step 4

While the tea is steeping, thinly slice 1/2 an orange. You can use the peel, but it’s best to wash it thoroughly first. Cutting the thin slices in half will help release more fragrance.

Step 4

Step 5

Pour the steeped onion peel tea into a mug and add the prepared orange slices. The subtle citrus notes from the orange will complement the onion’s flavor beautifully, making it even more enjoyable. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can add a little honey or stevia. Sip and enjoy this healthy, warm beverage!
